Solar Panel project

     

This project is done during my electricity & Magnetism course.  After a brief introduction to how solar panels work, students are given approximately 5 hours to measure several parameters affecting power output of a commercial solar panel.
The objective of this project is simple: students must calculate how many solar panels are need to power a house in Montreal over the course of a year while determining optimal positions on a roof.  This integrated project includes concepts such as: renewable energy, photoelectric effect, the amp-hour, power and many mathematics skills.
